​Biocenesis and biotope are closely related and influence each other

All living creatures interrelate to:

• Eat
• Protect themselves
• Reproduce

 

Food relationships are important because living creatures eat one another.  They form food chains.

​Plants and algae make their own food from the nutrients in the soil using the sunlight. So, all the food chains start with a plant. Then an herbivore animal eats the plants. Next a carnivore animal eats the herbivore. All food chains have at least three living creatures but they can be longer.
